Female Hormone Panel
Provided by Individual Wellbeing Diagnostic Laboratories

The measurement of Ostradiol and Progesterone from saliva enables us to accurately measure the free and therefore active components of these hormones. Much of these hormones is in a protein bound form that is usually measured in blood samples. It is possible to have a normal total amount of a hormone, but it may not always be functioning correctly. Analysis by blood samples has always had the serious drawback that only a very limited number of samples can be taken - providing only a "snap shot" of the hormone status and not adequately reflecting the subtle changes happening over the whole menstrual cycle.

The female hormone screen is a safe, non-invasive saliva assay that analyses levels of Progesterone and Oestrogen over a full cycle. The relative levels of these two hormones can then be plotted to indicate any abnormalities throughout the whole menstrual cycle. The levels are measured by a very sensitive and accurate technique called Enzyme Linked Immuno-Sorbant Assay (ELISA).

The test can be performed via a simple saliva kit which can be used in your own home. Once the samples have been taken, you simply post the test kit back to the laboratory. For further information or to order a test, contact Rob Clark.
